Patti and I feel very blessed to have spent the past 22 years owning the Boat House. It has been a wonderful chapter in our lives that truly became a ”family affair”. Along the way, our three children, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, and cousins, all joined the “crew” at some point to make the restaurant a success.
There are so many faces that flash back as we reflect on the journey – the countless guests that made a visit to The Boat House part of their summer tradition, the family reunions, birthday parties, anniversaries, and graduations. And then there were the weddings, and the special relationships that were developed with over 250 brides who entrusted us with their most special day.
Perhaps the most endearing memory is of the thousands of employees that became and continue to be “family” – the dedicated chefs and kitchen crew that worked tirelessly to prepare for the each night’s busy dinner rush, and the managers, waitresses, waiters, hostesses, bussers, and counter help who all strived to make each guests visit memorable. We will always cherish the laughs, friendships, and good times that we shared.
We have always endeavored to be thoughtful stewards of the Boat House tradition. Last week, we passed the helm to new owners, The Nugent Group. Partners Bill & Linda Burris, Bob & Gina Nugent, and Eric & Melanie Magaziner are owners of The Black Whale, Mud City Crab House, Old Causeway Inn, and Ship Bottom Shellfish. We are confident that these seasoned operators will continue to serve up memorable meals and beautiful sunsets for many years to come.
As for Patti and I, we will turning our efforts towards the continued growth of our wedding business, Taste Catering at Mallard Island and The Stateroom. Lastly, to all those who have supported and encouraged us over these many years, a sincere THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts!
